These assignments are grouped into\nthree categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Small<\/li><li>Medium<\/li><li>Large<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>During the first\nweek of class, <a href=\"onenote:#Announcements&amp;section-id={8797AF1A-8E17-45C4-8572-2081AA936796}&amp;page-id={2FC97181-68C2-4567-BE88-5867B5CF82D3}&amp;object-id={9CDFFBD5-7616-0F30-2AC3-4F478CB12922}&amp;A&amp;base-path=https:\/\/mnscu-my.sharepoint.com\/personal\/yq9599dj_minnstate_edu\/Documents\/Class%20Notebooks\/Su19%20HIST%201120-51%20Western%20Civ%20II\/Welcome.one\">we&#8217;ll\ndecide as a class how many of each category group of assignments<\/a> we&#8217;ll\ncomplete. You will be able to choose which of the specific types of assignments\nyou&#8217;d like to complete for each category group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Small\nCategory: Complete a minimum of 8 assignments from this category, 10 points\neach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ambiguity Exercise<\/li><li>Find an Image<\/li><li>Group Discussion<\/li><li>Question Generation<\/li><li>Timeline Reflection<\/li><li>Visual Source Observations<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Medium\nCategory: Complete a minimum of 5 assignments from this category, 20 points\neach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Primary Source Interpretation<\/li><li>Synthesis Paragraph<\/li><li>Unit Reflection<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Large\nCategory: Complete a minimum of 2 assignments from this category, 30 points\neach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lab Report<\/li><li>Secondary Source Analysis<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Total points: 405<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grading<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s what you need to complete in order to earn specific grades in this class:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For an A: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Earn 365.5 points<\/li><li>Complete all mandatory assignments<\/li><li>Complete 8 small cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete 5 medium cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete 2 large cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete assignments for all 15 Units<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For a B: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Earn 324 points<\/li><li>Complete the Timeline, Midterm Reflection, Final Project, and 14 PSOs<\/li><li>Complete 8 small cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete 5 medium cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete 2 large cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete assignments for at least 14 Units<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For a C: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Earn 283.5 points<\/li><li>Complete the Timeline, Midterm Reflection, Final Project, and 12 PSOs<\/li><li>Complete 8 small cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete 5 medium cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete 2 large cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete assignments for at least 12 Units<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: inherit;\">For a D:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Earn 243 points<\/li><li>Complete the Midterm Reflection, Final Project, and 9 PSOs<\/li><li>Complete 7 small cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete 4 medium cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete 2 large cafeteria assignments<\/li><li>Complete assignments for at least 9 Units<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For each letter grade, all requirements need to be achieved. For example, someone who earns 283.5 points, but has not completed the Collaborative Timeline will earn a D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course\nOutcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Gain a working knowledge of  the events that shaped western civilizations from 1550 through the present<\/li><li>Develop the skills necessary to analyze evidence as a historian<\/li><li>Learn how to read and interpret primary source documents<\/li><li>Learn how to organize and think critically about course material<\/li><li>Learn how to write as a historian<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Late Policy and Due Times<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All assignments are\ndue at 6:00 pm CDT.
