Welcome!
Welcome to NHCC’s training site for Assessment, Instructional Design, and Universal Design. This site is designed primarily for NHCC faculty. The Accessibility & Universal Design training is designed for all NHCC employees.
Accessibility and Universal Design are important for all NHCC employees to adopt for the following reasons:
- The college has a legal obligation to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Universal Design makes electronic materials available on any device in any format
- Techniques that incorporate Universal Design also help us to work more efficiently and effectively
Assessment, Instructional Design, and Universal Design are important for all NHCC faculty to adopt for the following reasons:
- Assessment is required for our accreditation
- Assessment makes us better teachers
- Assessment, Instructional Design, and Universal Design inform and compliment each other to create an effective and engaging classroom experience
Training Goals
After completing these trainings, you will be able to:
- Explain how assessment, instructional design, and universal design enhance teaching and learning
- Identify specific strategies to incorporate into current teaching
- Identify different learning theories
- Experiment with different assessment tools and techniques
- Create accessible multimedia and electronic materials
- Identify if their teaching materials are accessible and begin remediation as necessary
- Understand the external mandates driving assessment and accessibility
Beginning the Training Modules
It is recommended that faculty complete the trainings in the following order:
- Assessment
- Instructional Design
- Accessibility & Universal Design
To begin a training, select it below. An overview of each training and the current curriculum will be visible, along with the option to enroll. Please enroll to begin the trainings.
