Welcome to the Styles in Word training. This module was designed to function in any of the following ways:
- As an introduction to the whys and hows of using Styles in Microsoft Word
- As a self-paced individual training
- As a collaborative group training with a facilitator
- As a quick refresher to brush up on how to use Styles
Navigation
Each page will have two methods of navigation:
- “Previous” and “Next” modules will be displayed at the bottom of each page
- A full navigation for the training will be available to the right of content on each page
Learning Objectives
- Explain to others/self the basic principles of accessibility for materials that include text and still image.
- Explain to others/self the challenges text and still image present to individuals with visual processing issues.
- Identify semantic function of text on a page (for example, what information is conveyed by a Heading versus bold text).
- Use Styles in Microsoft Word to distinguish text based on its semantic function.
- Avoid using color alone to convey meaning in text documents.
- Differentiate between purely decorative still images and still images that convey information in electronic materials.
- Apply appropriate alternative text descriptions to still images in electronic materials.
- Implement principles of accessibility in a Word document they create.
