Tables and Images in Microsoft Word
Tables and images that are added to Microsoft Word are commonly not accessible, and thus violate the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Atomic Learning provides tutorials for creating accessible tables and images within the course “Creating an Accessible Syllabus.” You will need your StarID and password to access this tutorial.
Please review:
- Module B, Lesson 3: Adding an accessible table (2:28 minutes)
- Module C, Lesson 1: Adding alt text to an image (0:52 minutes)
- Module C, Lesson 2: Adding captions to charts or graphs (1:12 minutes)
Please note that the tutorial demonstration uses Microsoft Word 2010. However, the same procedure is used in our current version of Word.
As you watch the tutorials, I encourage you to work through the process described in the videos on your own Word document. Feel free to pause and rewatch segments of the videos at any time.
