Applying Markup
In our last Module, we used the “Find and Replace” feature in Word to clean up a document. Now, we are ready to give that document semantic structure with styles.
This video is close-captioned. Use the “CC” link in the video. For optimal learning, use either the captions or the audio, but not both simultaneously.
After viewing the video, reopen the Word Document you used for the Exercises from Module 1. You will continue editing this document for Exercise 3—Applying Semantic Markup.

Spend about three minutes reflecting on your learning. Use the comment feature below to answer the folowing questions:
- What did you learn? What did you know already before this training?
- What was most helpful? What was most confusing? What will you use?
- How do Styles relate to the concept of universal design?
Congratulations! You’ve finished the training on Applying Styles.
The next lesson will address other common formatting pitfalls that can be easily addressed by styles.
